The latest issue of the journal Theology in Scotland, titled “When Theological Landscapes Shift: Reimagining Church and Society”, is available to read online now.

It features papers from two “A Future with Hope” events held at New College, Edinburgh in 2023 and 2024:

Keynote article:

– a statistical review of responses to questions on religion in the 2022 Scottish Census, by Fiona Tweedie

– a study on ethnic diaspora Christian congregations in Scotland, by Sheila Akomiah-Conteh, Liam Jerrold Fraser and Fiona Tweedie

plus papers by:

– Will Storrar on how the Church of Scotland can find radical hope in the face of the ‘cultural devastation’ it has experienced in recent years

– Sandy Forsyth, arguing that for the Kirk the concept of ‘mission’ is in need of rehabilitation as it proceeds with its task of re-negotiating the future of its ministries, buildings, and communities

and 3 shorter pieces:

– Tommy MacNeil on an innovative missional initiative in his Stornoway parish

– Richard Frazer on how a pastoral encounter helped shape his ministry

– John Sturrock, providing a lay person’s perspective on issues raised at the “A Future with Hope” events.
