About the Event

We’ve been sharing with churches and presbyteries the opportunity to join in us in Learning Communities starting across Scotland.  We’d love to see churches in each region coming together for these four weekend, two year journeys of discipleship, prayer, training, story sharing and empowering for the renewal of discipleship and mission in our existing churches.

Many feel they don’t know enough about it to commit to signing themselves and their church leaders up for a two year process – fair enough!

On Saturday 30 November, we’re running a free taster day at the Madoch Centre in St Madoes near Perth to give people a brief experience of what we’ll be doing, to give you the chance to consider with your leaders if it’s something you’d like to join in with.  We’ll gather from 10am to 1pm, and we’ll give you a free lunch at 1pm as well.

The Very Reverend Martin Fair, Pathways to Ministry Manager in the Church of Scotland’s People and Training Team, will be joining us to help us explore why churches getting involved in Learning Communities is something the Kirk is calling for.

As well as being easily accessible by car from the A90, you can get directly to St Madoes on the regular Ember electric bus service from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Dundee.  Those travelling from Aberdeen can take the Ember to Dundee, and change there to get to St Madoes.  It’s a 5 minute walk from the bus stop to the Madoch Centre. https://www.ember.to/

If a taster day in November is too much just now, how about a 90 minute Zoom call?  In these online Learning Community taster calls, we’ll take you through some of the what and why of Learning Communities, and the kinds of things your church leadership can develop in discipleship and mission by participating in these 2 year journeys.  If you’ve got an hour and a half to spare, this could help you with whether Learning Communities might just help you shape the direction for your church in its new shape for the years to come.
