In 2025, The Faith Action Programme Leadership Team (FAPLT) will receive a donation from the Church of Scotland Housing and Loan Fund to be used for the single purpose of providing housing grants for FTWAS Candidates and Probationers, and those on the Assistant Minister contract scheme, who are in the most financial need.

The Housing and Loan Fund normally provide housing accommodation for retired ministers as well as widow or widowers and bereaved civil partners of ministers. With this grant, they have stipulated that it be used to ease the financial burden by those who are training for Fulltime Word and Sacrament ministry, or who are presently on assistant minister contracts who would normally have had a manse provision.

This is a charitable fund, and the use of these monies has been subject to lengthy discussions and agreement between the Church of Scotland Housing and Loan Fund and FAPLT, in conjunction with the Church Law Department in accordance with the Charities (Regulation and Administration) (Scotland) Act 2023

How to Apply

All FTWAS Candidates and Probationers, and those on the Assistant Ministers contract scheme will receive an application to apply for this grant. Applicants will be asked to provide details of their net household income after the payment of mortgage or rent, and Council Tax payments.

The closing date for this scheme is Friday 10th January 2025. It is hoped that all applications will be processed in time for payments to begin in February 2025.

Updates regarding grant funding for 2026, will be made in Autumn 2025.

FAPLT are grateful to the Housing and Loan Fund for this funding, and will continue to work with them to ensure that support is given to those at the forefront of the Church’s mission and outreach.
