The call for papers is now open for the Scottish Church History Society’s autumn conference, which will be held on Saturday 23 November 2024. This will be a hybrid event run from Edinburgh Theological Seminary. Speakers and attendees will have the option of being online or in-person.

We are delighted that Professor Colin Kidd (University of St Andrews) will be our keynote speaker. Professor Kidd’s paper is entitled:

‘The Forms and Flavours of Scottish Ecclesiastical Satire, 1680-1830’

We are looking for short, twenty-minute papers on any theme relating to Scottish church history. If you are interested in sharing some of your own research in this area, please send a 250 word abstract with a short biographical note to schsconf@outlook.com by Monday 14 October. We welcome proposals from postgraduate students, early career researchers, and independent or established scholars. No one period will receive precedence; proposals will be assessed according to their novelty and appeal. Interdisciplinary approaches are also encouraged – art, economic, gender, intellectual, legal, literary, political, and social historians are very welcome to apply. Please specify whether you intend to deliver your paper in-person or remotely when you submit your abstract.

Online attendance is priced at £5; in-person tickets will cost £10 (full price) or £5 (student/unwaged) and includes the cost of tea/coffee and a sandwich lunch. Please go to our Eventbrite page to book tickets.

The full programme will be announced shortly after the call for papers closes.

SCHS Conference Secretary.
