Matt Ward is our Training Officer, working with probationers, supervisors and ministers in their first five years.
Matt coordinates the initial ministerial training for probationers and works with a team of ministers to train supervisors for those training for ministry. He is also responsible for running and developing the provision offered to ministers in their first five years.
Matt was Ordained in the Church of England in 1997 and served in parishes and University Chaplaincy until moving to Scotland in May 2018. While in Leeds (2005-18) he formed and led a fresh expression of church. He is passionate about helping people find belonging in church communities and he was awarded a DThM from Durham University in 2016 for a thesis entitled ‘Searching to Belong: an exploration of how recent university graduates seek and find belonging in new church communities’.
In his spare time Matt enjoys playing rugby, paddling the canoe he built, and walking in the hills. When he’s feeling less energetic he retreats to his shed to enjoy some woodwork.
