Ruth MacLeod is the Head of Communications for the Church of Scotland, managing a multi-disciplinary team which is focussed on delivering effective communication on behalf of the church and those connected to it across a range of outlets.
As part of that role Ruth contributes to Ascend by helping to tell the stories of those in ministry and to share good news, information and advice to help support ministers in their role.
Ruth has spent more than twenty years working in corporate communications, predominantly in the public sector. This has included roles with the Police, Scottish Government, City of Edinburgh Council and the British Medical Association. A specialist in crisis communications Ruth was responsible for delivering the communications function for the newly-formed national Scottish Fire and Rescue Service which brought together eight regional brigades in a significant public sector reform.
During her time at the fire service she delivered the communications response to a number of high profile incidents including a firefighter fatality, the Clutha Bar helicopter crash and the George Square bin lorry crash.
Outside of work Ruth enjoys spending time with her teenage son and the family dog, reading and travelling.
