Craig Renton is the Depute Council Secretary for Ministries Council. He provides support to the Council Secretary and leadership for the business areas of Ministries Council in respect of strategic direction, finance, pensions, risk management, strategic oversight of the Ministries Development Staff and relationships with partners both internal and external to the Church.
Craig’s passion is in developing new approaches, facilitating collaboration and doing so in ways which improve organisational outcomes, enhance value for money and are centred on the needs of the individual.
Craig originally trained as a Quantity Surveyor before joining the Scottish Prison Service. After leaving the SPS in 2011 he worked as a management consultant, specialising in developing new models of service delivery and embedding cultural change across a wide range of organisations. He joins Church of Scotland with an appreciation of the various and unique challenges that face Ministers on a daily basis but with a strong belief that through proactive engagement and an open mind we can find ways to support and grow the terrific work being done already in the Church’s name.
Away from work Craig is father to two sons, is a keen skier and horse-rider, avid reader and new convert to Training for Warriors fitness programme.
