During February we will running webinars for Ministries Development Staff (MDS) to give them an overview of the Church of Scotland employee Learning & Development Platform and will be sending out invitations to MDS for these webinars shortly.
The Learning & Development Platform provides a bank of resources that delivers general guidance on a wide range of subjects ranging from Policy and Compliance training to Soft Skills development, as well as Health & Safety training and Core Competency training such as IT skills.
The resource is made up of interactive videos, quizzes and handouts that can be completed at the learner’s own pace and accessed via desktop, laptop and mobile devices.
In addition, the platform provides information on in-house courses held at 121 George Street such as Presentation Skills training, Social Media training and training on various MS Office packages. These courses can be booked by the employee online via the platform.
There is no cost to access the online modules, however, where the course requires the MDS to attend a course, travel expenses to Edinburgh are expected to be met by the congregation. We encourage staff to discuss their training needs with their line manager beforehand, highlighting the relevance of their chosen course, and how it meets their individual learning needs and how it can be applied at local level. Once discussed, you should approve the travel costs prior to them booking any in-house courses.
